Taking place on Saturday September 17th in over 100 countries across the world, Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) – a day that aims to educate the public about the numerous advantages to using high quality FOSS in business, education, government, at home...

...in short, absolutely everywhere!

A hub of Free and Open Source software innovation, Rugby is participating in the global celebration, with a free event being held at the Benn Partnership Training Centre from 12pm on September 17th.

The Rugby Software Freedom Day event is a collaboration between the Rugby Linux User Group (LUG) and the Benn Partnership, there will be representatives from the FOSS software community and local ICT companies who specialise in Free and Open Source software, offering free and informal advice and offering the opportunity to organise further sessions after the event if required.

Visitors will also be able to try out various FOSS applications on both Microsoft and Linux platforms.

The Rugby SFD is taking place at 12pm on Saturday 17th September 2011 at the Benn Partnership Training Centre, Railway Terrace, Rugby Warwickshire, CV21 3HR.

Anyone can attend and members of the education sector will be invited to arrive at 11am to discuss their one-to-one needs with the specialists.
For those who cannot make it to the event but are interested to learn more, information and software can be posted out.
