96% of public sectors in France are using open source software, according to a French market survey. According to the survey the reason for the significant amount of public sectors using open source is mainly due to the fact that the products are mature, and that it offers independence from IT suppliers, the most used applications are database management systems and content management systems. Also it is expected that in 2011, 63 percent of firms and organisations will be using open source software, and the French open source market is expected to have grown by 16%.
